DEDPAN® DS20 CL is a constrained layer damping material that loses the vibration energy as small amounts of heat in the polymer which is generated as this is ‘sheared’ between the ‘constraining layer’ and the panel the material is stuck to.
It consists of an aluminium surface laminated to a unique viscoelastic damping polymer faced with a self adhesive film. Its viscoelastic properties absorb noise-producing energy by converting shear strain to negligible heat.
Constrained layer damping treatments can be placed at specific noise problem sites without affecting the structural integrity of the component. They may also be used to solve noise problems after a component has been engineered and put into production.
