DEDPAN® is a patented family of vibration damping materials which, when applied to a metal or plastic panel/forming, inhibit the build-up of resonant vibrations dramatically reducing the levels of radiated noise. Included in this family is a range of specially developed viscoelastic Damping Sheets with exceptional damping performance to weight ratios.
DEDPAN® DS is a lightweight flexible self-adhesive sheet material which is supplied ready for use. It has primarily been developed for use on roofing panels but is also used for an extensive list of other applications including marine craft, household appliances, machine housings, and materials handling equipment.
The product is highly conformable and provides a permanent bond to surfaces of almost any shape at any orientation at any point in a manufacturing process.

The second CRITICAL aspect to consider when using any pressure sensitive adhesive system is PRESSURE. Adequate pressure must be applied to make the material stick to the substrate. For all DEDPAN® products moderate hand pressure applied to all the sheet is usually enough to give a good bond, but a hand roller should be used to improve adhesion even further. This is typically adequate for smooth substrates.
The key aspect is that the adhesive must COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE SUBSTRATE UNDER PRESSURE for a BOND to form. For uneven surfaces such as Stucco embossed aluminium a more intimate adhesive/substrate contact can be achieved by warming the panel with a heat gun immediately prior to the DEDPAN® application. Also, in these instances it is recommended that pressure should be applied with a soft rubber or dense foam roller to press the sheet into the surface pattern for maximum contact.
All DEDPAN® Roofing grades are flexible over a wide temperature range down to about 5°c. For application onto irregular surfaces these surfaces should be warmed to maximise contact and bond. Standard grades will need to be ‘moderately warm’ to maintain flexibility during application. This will require only the normal factory operating temperatures of above 16°c to be observed.
On most substrates, the bond strength will increase with time and will be significantly higher after 24 hours. By its function DEDPAN® is used on rigid panels to reduce vibration. If it is to be used on plasticised polymer sheets however, please contact us to discuss compatibility.
The pressure sensitive system used on DEDPAN® is very aggressive. Relocation, once stuck, especially when pressure has been applied is particularly difficult. MICROPERFORATED versions of DEDPAN® are available on request, and with this modification the likelihood of air trapping is reduced when very large sheets are being applied to substrates.
Should the removal of DEDPAN® be necessary it can be effectively removed with a scraper whilst being heated with a hot air gun
